It is vital to maintain a very high level of oxygen in a garden pond. The oxygen content in the pond is subject to heavy fluctuations. This is because plants and algae which produce oxygen during the day through solar energy, switch their metabolism at night and use up most of the available oxygen. This natural process depletes almost all of the oxygen supply. Therefore, the survival of the fish and other organisms is especially endangered during the early hours of the day. The oxygen depletion problem is magnified through dead algae, plants, or superfluous fish food, particularly in warm water. These microorganisms use up an enormous amount of oxygen. This reduces the oxygen level for the fish and other organisms, thereby threatening their survival. In other words, when the biological balance is destroyed, pond life could die within a few hours. The solution to oxygen deficiency. This pump uses a special impeller with wings and is built according to OASE's energy saving FIS principle. Air is drawn into the pump through a small pipe protruding above the pond surface and is shredded into little bubbles by the special impeller. These tiny bubbles are mixed with water and discharged horizontally into the pond through a 90º mounted discharge, allowing more time for oxygen transfer into the water.

Everything
arrived, the OASE air pump first then the Barley Extract just a couple
of days ago. The pump is great, just what the fish wanted with all
the heat. They were a little sluggish but the added oxygen pepped them
up right away. Thanks for great service once again.

Thank
you for your follow-up. As usual everything is fine. The pump is
in the pond and working even better than expected. We have not had to turn
on our pond heater and last night the temperature was down to 23F. The
bubbles create a lot of movement on the surface of the pond that prevents
the formation of ice. I don't know how cold it has to get to freeze
most of the surface of the pond but we will find out over the winter.

I
received the Oase 30 Aerator this morning and it works really well - easy
to set up, and at only 28 Watts, very energy efficient. (You're welcome
to quote me on this if you wish.) Regards,
John
